Hairbow Holder

Well I have about 3 more crafts I need to post about but for now this is just a little gift I put together for a friend. The K is actually for our new addition but I haven't quite finished it yet.

I just picked up a couple of letters from HobLob for $1.99 apiece.

I used a couple of stencil brushes and a medicine cup to make my circles. Then I hot glued my ribbon on the back.

A cute little wood butterfly from HobLob to weigh it down and wah-lah!

There it is, I'm going to add a couple of homemade hair bows before I give it to her.

$7 Crayon Wreath

Well we have had our craft on at the Hale house today so I will be posting all kinds of goodies over the next few days. So a few weeks back I saw this adorable idea for a wreath and thought that it would make a great gift idea for my sons preschool teacher. So I took myself down to HobLob and got my supplies.

I found this cute little apple over in the wood cutouts and I just took my Sharpie and wrote the preschool name on it.

Then I found some embroidery hoops and I only used the inside small hoop and the inside large hoop so I still have the outside hoops to use on another project.

My advice is to paint your hoops before you start your project. I did not do this and I am having to go back with my sharpie and black out all the areas you can see. I only used about 50 crayons so you do not need to buy this box of crayons but I wasn't sure how many I would need and you can never have to many crayons at our house. I had this blue ribbon leftover from making hair bows.

Sorry I didn't take any pictures of the process, I got into it and kept on going. I glues my ribbon on first and then my apple on top of that. Next I started gluing my crayons, it took me 50 thousand several attempts and a few crayons had to sacrifice their lives for me to figure out the correct spacing but once I got flowing it went pretty fast. All in all I only spent about 7 dollars for the whole thing.
I am linking it up here.

Trim For Lil Sis

So this weekend the hubby and I decided to be somewhat productive and get Lil Sis's chair rail put up. When we finally got started it only took about 30 minutes b/c the chair rail has been sitting painted in the building for months. Although it did not go off without a few hitches, like when the DVD player fell off the dresser and hit me in the back. Fun Fun. I still haven't filled in the nail holes but I am so excited to have a project done around here!

This is what happens when you can't find a stud and your husband is a perfectionist carpenter.

Take a look at how crooked the walls in our house are!

All finished!

After the trim was up I decided to be brave and clean out the closet, nothing in there actually belonged to Lil Sis so with the new baby coming I thought it was time to have a place for the toys. It only took 35 hours!

I CANNOT wait to get rid of this carpet but for now this is our big girl room.

Lil Sis's Room

When we first bought this house this was the only room that required no construction, but it was painted flat black with yellow trim....yuuucckk. Well my twin sissy was moving in with us so she picked a blue for the walls and we painted the trim cream. When baby sis was born I wasn't ready to lose my guest room ( twin sis got married and moved out) so I just stuck a crib in the corner and put a bedding set that matched the blue. Well finally this summer when Lil Sis was ready for a big girl bed I redid the room.

This is what her nursery looked like.

This is what we did this summer, I went to Lowe's and bought a section of picket fence, I brought it home and hubby cut it down to size then I painted it white and instant headboard!

I made this hair bow holder for her, oh and I made the hair bows :)
And don't you love the football on the fan chain lol!
After 3 years in this house that carpet has got to go, so that is on the reno list.

Well like I said in Bubba's post, this room will eventually become his thanks to new baby sis so we will start the decor process all over again.

Big Boy Room

Well right now this is big brothers room. Eventually the girls will get this room just because it is the biggest of the 2 rooms. When we first bought the house this room was a living room and we knew that we needed another bedroom so we pulled up the carpet and built a closet. The hardwood is in bad shape and will be on the list of things to redo. Also the living room sized ceiling fan is going to go.

This is what it looked like this past Christmas.

Yes we have waaayyy to many toys.

Well back in the summer I got this wild idea to paint the kids rooms and get new bedding. Well after I got this green on the wall I realized it was a little more grass green then I wanted but I had enough sense to know not to ask hubby to repaint so it is staying put for now. We also have chair rail in the building ready to be put up but it just hasn't made it yet. I got a new rug but I don't have any pics of it yet, hopefully when we get the floors redone we can get rid of the rugs!

This is a door hanging I painted for him since we were doing a travel theme. Like I said this is going to become the girls room and I have sooo any ideas for a cute little girls room but for now this is it.

Big Changes

Well I'm not sure how often I will post but some major renovations are coming to the Hale house and I am very excited to start sharing them with all of you! I am going to post pictures of what it all looks like now but oh how I wish you could have seen it when we first bought it, to say it was a dump is an understatement! But alas all of those pictures are not digital and only sit in an album for us to ponder over. As we go through each room I will try and describe the sad pitiful condition it used to be in.

This is the living room/ dining room. Sorry a couple are from my little big guys birthday party :)

I'm not sure where I was going with the yellow walls, especially with the red furniture, which by the way was not a very well thought out purchase. No worries it's all changing soon! When we first bought this house this room was actually a dining room and kitchen. The house had 2 kitchens so the one in this room had to go. Well I have to go feed the kiddos some lunch, more to come later!
